Cyber-crime is any crime that has been committed using a computer or other hardware device.  It covers a wide variety of crimes, including:

  • Theft of personal data for financial or other gain
  • Child pornography

It can happen once or be a repeated offence. It can happen to people of any age. Sometimes victims of cyber-crime feel too embarrassed to report it or get support. They may also be being blackmailed into not telling anyone. If this is you, you have rights to support and protect you.

If you know someone who is vulnerable and may have been affected by Fraud or Cyber Crime then you are also able to speak to the police on their behalf to get more information.


How to get help

If you are in immediate danger call the police by dialling 999. If you would like to speak to a police officer but it isn’t urgent then you can call 101.
